My Top 5 Influential Ladies
Its Women’s History Month.
It's about empowerment and honoring women of greatness. When you see it on social media it's all
about people like Eleanor Roosevelt,
Rosa Parks, Joan of Arc and Anne Frank.
Famous for what they achieved and survived. However, there are women influences that make
up history, actually, they make up my history.
Ann Hector – my 5th and 6th
grade teacher at Georgetown Elementary.
She recognized my love and talent for writing and encouraged me to
follow my passion. This woman was
amazing and will always hold a special place in my heart, sadly, she passed
away several years ago.
Polly Chandler – the wonderful bookstore owner. Every kid in town knew who Polly Chandler was
and she treated all of us as if we were her very own special guest. Another special lady who encouraged my
passion for writing as well as my love of reading.
Wonder Woman - yes she’s fictional, but to a GENX-70 she was amazing. Diana Prince, Amazon Princess who was an idol
for us to look up too and know that we too can fight for justice. I’m still a huge fan as anyone who is acquainted
with me can tell you.
Lucia St. Clair Robson – the woman who wrote my
favorite book “Ride the Wind”. I still hope to become the writer she is. (guess I have to actually write a book for that to happen)
Sacajawea – a mom carrying her kid on her back,
leading men through the wilderness. She
was outstanding! Read the book about
her by Anna Lee Waldo, it's truly an awesome read. Very thick and long but a true reader won’t
care about that.
There are always other women to add, however these have been
in my top five category for decades. Women
don’t have to be historically famous to be influential. Take a hard look at your world, what women
have had an influence on you (besides your family members!)
